In the series, adapted from the manga of the same name, Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) are trapped in an abandoned Tokyo, where they are forced to compete in dangerous games, the type and difficulty of which are determined by playing cards.
After surviving their first game, players receive “visas”, which are extended the more they compete.
If the visas expire, the individuals are executed by red lasers being shot from the sky.
Airing the first episode on 10th December 2020, the series received the green light for season 2 pretty quickly- just two weeks after its broadcasting.
And we have seen a teaser saying, “Season 2 is coming!”
Although the series was popular and season 2 was confirmed very quickly, it actually became even more popular after the release of Squid Game. Why? Thanks to Netflix’s algorithm!
The premiere of the series was almost a year before Squid Game but when the algorithm started recommending it to Squid Game fans, it proved to be a worldwide hit!
It is said that “it landed back in the top 10 series ranking in more than 50 countries around the world, more than nine months after its initial launch.”
Waiting for season 2 has been long and painful.
The start of filming was not announced until the last half of 2021.
Get ready to return to the games—Season 2 of Alice in Borderland has finished filming!

But finally this year in March it is said that filming has finished and now we know that the series, the trailer of which is published on September 24, will premiere on December 22 through the latest post we mentioned.
So what awaits us in season 2?
Season 1 has been the scene of lots of deaths like Arisu’s two friends and the majority of participants in the final game.
As Arisu, Usagi, Chishiya, and Kuina enter the place where game masters operate, Mira (the Queen of Hearts) reveals herself as the mastermind in the TV panels, informing all the participants about the next phase of games — the Face Cards J, Q, and K.
In season 2, the survivors likely try to gain the Face Cards in order to end the game and reveal the mastermind behind everything.
The cast will include two leading roles firstly as expected and Nijiro Murakami as Chishiya, Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann, Dori Sakurada as Niragi, Aya Asahina as Kuina, Sho Aoyagi as Aguni, Riisa Naka as Mira.
Yes, you did not read it wrongly! Niragi who was burned by Chisiya and defeated by Aguni will be back as we learn from the announcement of the end of shooting and the actor’s Instagram as well.
This leaves us with curiosity and excitement.

It seems we will watch some fights between him and the survivors.
Keita Machida as Karube and Yuki Morinaga as Chota, friends of Arisu who were lost in season 1, will appear as well, probably with flashbacks or maybe even with surprising twists!
It also has announced that aside from this well-known cast, new faces are joining the show, including Tsuyoshi Abe as Keiichi Kuzuryu, Tomohisa Yamashita as Kyuuma Ginji (the King of Clubs), Yuri Tsunematsu as Akane Heiya, Isomura Hayato as Sunato Banda, Maiguma Katsuya as Oki Yaba, and Sato Honami as Kotoko Shi (the Jack of Hearts).
With the latest photos, we surprisingly see a child participant in the deadly games which gives us a sign that this season will be more cruel and thrilling.
While Netflix did not reveal so much about the upcoming season, we can expect that Mira will play the critical role as the villain and new participants can give us fresh struggles, twists, and more.
Season 1 has covered 31 chapters of the manga, leaving 33 chapters.
By looking at the estimated plot and remaining chapter numbers we can say it might be the last season of the series.
But who knows Netflix can surprise us and come up with a new season announcement.
Get ready for a thriller roller coaster on December 22!
