Prometheus

Ha Ji Woo and Jin Goo

No doubt, one of the most awaited but canceled dramas was Prometheus.

Being scheduled to air at the end of 2018 and later being pushed to 2019, the drama would tell the story of a former North Korean officer who got involved in an incident in Russia and found himself working as a day laborer in South Korea (Jin Goo) and an intelligence officer who aimed to denuclearize the Korean peninsula (Ha Ji Won).

The drama garnered attention for its massive budget of 30 billion won (approximately $26.7 million) and its impressive casting.

It has been said by the production team that the female character was designed with Ha Ji Won in mind, and Jin Goo with his sincere acting and ability to sync with the character he’s playing was perfect for this new type of spy drama.

About a month after the drama announcement, Ha Ji Won’s agency stated the actress would depart from casting due to a delay in filming and causing schedule problems.

A few days later, MBC announced they no longer planned to air the drama, saying the decision to air had never been finalized and it was made before Ha Ji Won’s departure.

Finally, Jin Goo and another cast member Park Ki Woong’s agencies confirmed they would not participate in the drama.

Thus, while Prometheus had gathered high expectations owing to Ha Ji Won’s acting and one-of-a-kind charisma and Jin Goo’s attendance, it could never be filmed.
