Four Sons
This drama might be the unluckiest and longest-delayed drama in Korean TV history.
The fantasy romance thriller was supposed to tell the story of a man who meets three men looking exactly like himself while investigating his mother’s suspicious death.
Being the director Jang Tae Yoo’s (“My Love From the Star“) K-drama comeback after four years, the drama had drawn attention having actor Park Hae Jin as the lead role, with Nana as the heroine.
Its filming started in January 2018 and four episodes out of 16 were filmed.
However, the filming has been suspended in May because of the production company’s unreasonable requests, equipment failure, and unpaid wages.
Actor Kim Chang Wan has withdrawn from the drama recently due to broken trust.
While some resources were saying the director took responsibility and tried to do whatever he could to continue filming, the production company claimed the director demanded more than the established budget.
After both sides released conflicting statements in July, it was revealed that filming resumed with new director Kim Jae Hong.
Just when the shooting was expected to begin, Nana withdrew from the drama in August.
After being offered to Lee Sun Bin and declined, the role was taken over by Lee Si Ah.
But this time a conflict on neglecting the agreement and not coming out to the set erupted between the production company and Park Hae Jin.
While the actor’s agency took legal action because of defaming the actor and spreading false facts, the production company revealed the messages between them.
In 2019, the actor confirmed that he will be starring in the upcoming drama Secret.
In response, the production company applied for charges to prohibit Park Hae Jin from appearing in Secret.
The actor won the lawsuit filed against him and his agency announced they plan to take separate legal action.
About a year after the end of filming, an unofficial update was revealed saying that it was unclear what the drama would do without its lead actor and the production company was considering cutting the drama down.
To wrap up, the actors responded to the company’s request for extra filming.
However, at that time, they had not yet found a platform to broadcast the drama.
Last year, the drama aired through KT as the six-episode Genesis on 18th June after a long wait.
