But despite all his successful dramas and awards, people still tend to comment on his looks, especially on his monolid eyes and thick lips.

Even celebrity Han Seo Hee was seen mocking Jun Yeol’s thick lips.

On March 7, 2019, Han Seo Hee uploaded a photo on her Instagram story that showed her raising her lips to show the gums above her teeth.

She then also added a caption that says:

“Suddenly imitating Ryu Jun Yeol before sleeping.”

Other people might not like Jun Yeol’s physical appearance but he surely won the heart of the beautiful Hyeri from Girl’s Day.

Both started dating way back in 2017 and are still one of the most solid couples in the Korean industry up until now.

Hyeri even recently surprised Jun Yeol for his birthday by sending a coffee truck during his filming for his new drama Money Game.

But what caught everybody’s eyes and made everyone jealous was the banner attached to the truck that says:

“Happy Birthday to my beloved Ryu Jun Yeol. From Ryu Jun Yeol’s No. 1 fan.”

In regards to people calling him ugly, Jun Yeol actually made a comment on this.

He knows and acknowledges that some people call him ugly but it doesn’t make him feel bad at all because, in fact, he loves his physical appearance.

He stated:

“My physical appearance isn’t handsome or particularly eye-catching, but it’s ordinary and common. There are definitely times when those aspects of my appearance come in handy when I’m acting. I don’t have any qualms with my appearance.”

When asked if he gets bothered by this type of concern that may potentially affect his characters, Jun Yeol ends up actually having an adverse effect on it.

He also stated:

“One’s face is definitely important, and it’s nice if you’re handsome. However, there are also things like the overall vibe that comes out of that character or person. And just because I want my appearance to be different doesn’t mean it will change.”
