People might only know him as a comedian because of his appearance in the hit reality show Running Man, but in fact, Kwang Soo first debuted as an actor in the 2008 sitcom Here He Comes.
Through Running Man, people only see him as an entertainer who makes people laugh because of his wit and funny facial expressions.
But Kwang Soo was actually having a hard time fitting in and finding the right path for him in the industry.
Kwang Soo originally wanted to become an actor but due to his appearance, people did not see him fitting in and said he was better off as a comedian and entertainer.
Even Running Man member Kim Jong Kook casually calls him ugly.
In an episode, he stated:
“Kwang Soo, it looks like you want to show people a beautiful romance, but after losing all that weight, you’re too ugly right now. Your hair is too short right now for romance. And your face isn’t in the best condition either”.
Although he obviously said it in a joking manner, Kwang Soo’s image has been branded as “the funny looking one”.
But thanks to his unique features and fun personality, he gained popularity internationally and was named as “The Prince Of Asia”.
In the 2014 drama It’s Okay, That’s Love, Kwang Soo proved that he’s more than just a funny face and showed everybody how good he is at acting as well.
In the drama, he had to portray a very tough character that has Tourette’s syndrome which he amazingly delivered.
By 2021, after eleven years of shared laughter in Running Man, Kwang Soo stepped down from the variety show.
The main reason why he decided to stop was for him to take care of his health since he got into a car accident in 2020.
But fans took this as his stepping stone for him to focus more on his acting career, which Kwang Soo was able to deliver.
After leaving the show, he was able to appear in different kinds of movies and dramas like Sinkhole, A Year-End Medley, and The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure.
People might not find his appearance appealing but he surely captured the heart of actress Lee Sun Bin.

The couple first met on an episode of Running Man in 2016 when Sun Bin appeared as a guest.
After filming the episode together, Kwang Soo and Sun Bin became close friends and a year later, they decided to take things to the next level by starting a romantic relationship.
They officially announced their romantic relationship on December 31, 2018, which was already five months after they became a couple.
