Goblin

In the dreamy scene, the Goblin Kim Shin asks her to be his bride, not because it is decided that they will be together by the Gods but because she is his true love.

Not as the “Goblin” but as a regular “Goryeo man” he asks,

I’m saying this because the day is so beautiful. I’m saying this because you have always shone so brightly, I’m saying this because my first love has always been you. On another beautiful day, will you become the bride of this Goryeo man?

The way he proposes to Eun Tak by shedding all of his shells and defining himself as just a Goryeo man makes his proposal one of the most beautiful.

Being in a marriage against one’s own will because of the decision of the elders is not something people dream of.

But after becoming mature together Shin and Chae Kyeong realize that in fact they truly love each other.

With his grandmother’s encouragement, Shin opens his heart and asks Chae Kyeong,

“Let’s get married. Not by following the elder’s decision… I’m proposing with all my heart to the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

Shin’s proposal was great but Chae Kyeong’s late acceptance by pretending to come only to say farewell to him was even better.
