Lee Honey actually got criticised for not fitting Korean beauty standards!
In an episode of MMTG, that aired in October of 2021, Lee Honey recalled the time that she got tons of hate when she was a contestant in the Miss Korea and Miss Universe beauty pageants.
According to her, when she competed in Miss Korea back in 2006, she did not see any contestants who looked like her as they all were very pale and skinny, which was fitting with the Korean beauty standards.
Honey had darker skin and a more muscular figure due to her working out.
She also said that she went on stage and went to say hello but heard the other contestants discussing the size of her thighs.
Having experienced this multiple times when she was in her 20s, she started to believe that she did not have a future in modelling.
Instead she pursued acting, but even then she faced criticism about her looks.
They would tell her she was too large to be on camera and suggest she surgically get rid of her dimples.
Thankfully things turned around and now she has a successful career in the acting industry.
