Actor Nam Joo Hyuk will enlist in December.

On the 17th, his agency announced, “Nam Joo-hyuk is planning to enlist in December after finishing the filming schedule.”

The drama he is currently filming, Vigilante, tells the story of a police academy student who becomes a vigilante and kills criminals after his mother dies at the hands of a local gangster.

Nam Joo Hyuk, whose enlistment date is undecided yet, started his career as a model in 2013 and appeared in music videos.

He made his acting debut in The Idle Mermaid in a supporting role.

Since then he took part in successful dramas such as School 2015, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, and Start-up.

Twenty-five Twenty-one, in which he co-starred with Kim Tae Ri early this year, was a commercial hit and became one of the highest-rated dramas in Korean cable television history.

After the drama in May, he has been subject to allegations of bullying from three different accusers.

The first two accusers changed their statements after his agency said they would take legal action.

As for the third accuser, his agency confirmed that the text messages provided by the third accuser were real, but they also alleged that the messages were merely an out-of-context fragment of a bigger picture.

Fortunately, the allegations turned out to be unfounded, thanks to Dispatch’s interviews with his school friends and teachers.

Nam Joo Hyuk’s fans expressed their sadness by saying, “Can’t you just leave another drama?” after hearing the news of his enlistment.

After organizing advertisements and filming schedules for his enlistment, and taking time for personal maintenance, he plans to enlist in the military and fulfill his duties.

If he joins the military in December or early 2023, he is expected to be discharged in late 2025.
