“The Uncanny Counter” Season 2 is truly happening.
As October started, there were already several pieces of information and casting details that were revealed about the upcoming new season of the hit OCN series.
After “The Uncanny Counter” ended in January 2021, it was confirmed that there would be a new season in the works.
Over a year has passed and only now that we are getting more news about the upcoming new installment of the drama.
Back in September 2022, Kim Se Jeong was the first cast member that was reported to return to the drama.
Her agency Jellyfish Entertainment revealed that she is positively considering returning to the second season.
It was then followed by the casting news of actor Jin Seon Kyu.
Media outlets shared that Jin Seon Kyu would be the latest villain in the upcoming second season of “The Uncanny Counter.”
His agency L’July Entertainment also responded to the reports and revealed that he did receive an offer to star in the drama but there is no official confirmation yet.
Together with the news of Jin Seon Kyu possibly becoming the villain, it was also reported that “The Uncanny Counter 2” will step up the story.
In the first season, the South Korean demon hunters called counters came down to Earth and hid their identity as an employee of a noodle shop to capture evil spirits roaming around to achieve eternal life.
They then recruited the youngest counter that became the key figure among them.
In the second season, the story will unfold as the counters from South Korea will be working alongside overseas counters against evil enemies on Earth.
There are no details yet if the cast will be filming in South Korea or if they will also showcase scenes from other countries.
Another actor that received the offer to become part of the second season is Kang Ki Young, the actor who became more famous after starring in the hit ENA series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.”
His agency Namoo Actors also revealed that the actor is considering starring in the drama but nothing has been decided yet.
There are also no details yet on whether he got the offer to be a counter just like the main leads or if he will be on the villain’s side.
Meanwhile, Jo Byeong Gyu’s side also stated the return of the actor to the new season.
Just like Kim Se Jeong, Jo Byeong Gyu is positively discussing his casting offer.
The first season was led by Jo Byeong Gyu, Kim Se Jeong, Yoo Joon Sang, and Yeom Hye Ran.
The drama became successful not only because of its interesting plot but also because of the chemistry of the characters.
Many are hoping that all the main cast will be retained.
According to several media outlets, “The Uncanny Counter 2” will begin filming this coming November.
It was also revealed that the drama will no longer air on OCN and will be moved to tvN.
There are also discussions of the drama airing on a global OTT platform. The first season became available on Netflix.
“The Uncanny Counter 2” will still be directed by Yoo Seon Dong and written by Yeo Ji Na.
There is no official news yet on the premiere of “The Uncanny Counter 2” but it will most likely air in 2023.
There’s a possibility that just like in the first season, the second installment will also have a total of 16 episodes with 1 hour and 10 minutes duration each.
For now, this is all the information we have gathered for the upcoming “The Uncanny Counter” Season 2. Stay tuned for more updates!
